The Finance for Biodiversity Foundation, established in March 2021, is the leading global organization promoting biodiversity action by financial institutions. Its mission is to support a call to action and foster collaboration among industry players through various working groups, with the goal of reversing biodiversity loss by the end of this decade.
The Foundation also coordinates the Finance for Biodiversity Pledge, an initiative that currently brings together about 200 financial institutions—representing 23 trillion euro in assets—committed to urging global leaders to adopt effective measures to combat nature loss and ensure ecosystem resilience.
Signatories of the Pledge commit to actively contributing to the protection and restoration of biodiversity through their investment and financing activities by adhering to five key commitments:
• Collaborate and share knowledge
• Engaging with companies
• Assessing impact
• Setting targets
• Reporting publicly on progress related to these commitments
