New Ethics Committee

Leonardo Becchetti is the Chairman of the new Ethics Committee.

The new Ethics Committee of Etica Sgr, the asset management company of Gruppo Banca Popolare Etica, meets for the first time on December 9th, 2014 after being elected by the Board of Directors on September 30th, 2014.

In the first meeting Leonardo Becchetti, professor the “Tor Vergata” University of Rome has been elected as chairman of the Ethics Committee. ,Becchetti, among the top 80 economists in the world in terms of number of pages published in scientific journals according to the REPEC world rankings, is currently coordinator of the Master MESCI (Development Economics and International Cooperation), coordinator of the degree course European Economy and Business Law and Professor of Economics at the Faculty of Economics at the “Tor Vergata” University of Rome.

As a vice chairman has been elected Helen Alford, head of Social Science department and director of the master “Management and Corporate Social Responsibility” at San Tommaso (Angelicum) University of Rome.

The Ethics Committee, whose memebers has been elected by the board of directors on September 30th, 2014, is an indipendent and autonomous body composed of members with high moral profiles combined with experience accrued in the social and environmental sectors as well as in civic engagement, the field of religion and in third-level education. It carries out activities of guidance and control, helping the company to define its criteria, analyzing each single issuer or sector and supporting engagement activities.

The new Ethics Committee will be in charged until October 2017 and its composed by 9 members. Compared to last committee, which mandate has expired in October 2014, three membes left and three got in: the chairman Leonardo Becchetti; Cecilia Brighi, human rights and labour rights expert, ex-member of ILO (International Labour Organization) board of directors, is currently “Italy-Burma. Together” Secretary-General and member of the Board “Friends of China Labour Bulletin; Monica Di Sisto, journalist specialized in international cooperation, corporate social responsability, third secotr, solidarity economy, is currently Vice Chairman of Farwatch (italian observatory on climate and international commerce) and professor of Economic Development Models at Pontificia Università Gregoriana.

The following members has been confirmed for the new committee: Helen Alford (Vice Chairman), Andrea Baranes (Chairman of Fondazione Culturale Responsabilità Etica), Daniele Conti, Maurizio Decastri, Giorgio Fiorentini e Walter Ganapini. Etica Sgr is thanking the outgoing members Gianni Caligaris, Franco Delben e Mario Molteni for their precious contribution of these years.
