To support\u00a0the just transition to an economy with a low impact on the climate<\/strong>: Etica Sgr has signed the statement of commitment.<\/p>\n

The initiative \u2018Statement of\u00a0Investor Commitment to Support a Just Transition on Climate Change<\/em><\/a>\u2019 came about as a result of the events we took part in with PRI<\/a>\u00a0e\u00a0ICCR<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This issue is fundamental to us, particularly because of the engagement<\/a>\u00a0activities to be carried out in 2019 for the new\u00a0Etica Impatto Clima <\/strong><\/a>fund.<\/p>\n

What investors can do about the transition to a low-impact economy<\/h2>\n

As sustainable and responsible investors, we believe the strategies required to tackle\u00a0climate change<\/strong> should of course cover the environmental dimension, but they cannot be separated from the social and governance (ESG) dimensions.<\/p>\n

There is a growing recognition that the social dimension of the transition to a resilient economy and\u00a0low carbon emissions<\/strong>\u00a0requires more attention. Especially in terms of\u00a0the\u00a0implications for the workforce<\/strong>\u00a0and, more broadly, for the\u00a0community<\/strong>. Achieving a\u00a0just transition<\/strong>, in line with the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change, will help to accelerate climate action to to attain\u00a0Sustainable Development Goals<\/strong>\u00a0(SDG).<\/p>\n

What is in the Statement?<\/h2>\n

The Statement specifically relates to a commitment to act in one or more of the following areas.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Investment strategy<\/strong>: to incorporate workplace and community issues into climate change policies and investment beliefs, stakeholder dialogue and investment mandates.<\/li>\n
  2. Corporate engagement<\/strong>: to include the workforce and community issues in engagement activities relating to the company\u2019s climate-related practices, scenarios and disclosure.<\/li>\n
  3. Capital allocation decisions<\/strong>: to design investment mandates across all asset classes that combine decarbonisation, climate resilience, decent work, and inclusive growth.<\/li>\n
  4. Policy promotion and partnerships<\/strong>: to support the inclusion of a just transition in regional, national and international policies and to contribute to partnerships based on location.<\/li>\n
  5. Learning & transparency<\/strong>: to develop systems to review and communicate the progress made in terms of just transition activities and to share best practices.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    In particular, at least during the initial phase, Etica Sgr’s efforts will focus on point 2: Corporate engagement.<\/u><\/p>\n
