{"id":17413,"date":"2015-11-18T11:32:25","date_gmt":"2015-11-18T09:32:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.eticasgr.com\/?p=17413"},"modified":"2023-08-17T16:22:54","modified_gmt":"2023-08-17T14:22:54","slug":"montreal-carbon-pledge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eticasgr.com\/en\/storie\/international-campaigns\/montreal-carbon-pledge","title":{"rendered":"Montr\u00e9al Carbon Pledge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In august 2015 Etica Sgr signed the <em><a href=\"http:\/\/montrealpledge.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Montr\u00e9al Carbon Pledge<\/a><\/em>, an initiative supported by the UN PRI where institutional investors commit to measure and publicly disclose the carbon footprint of their investment portfolios on an annual basis.<\/p>\n<p>Every year Etica Sgr will therefore compute the carbon footprint of its equity investments and will share the results for the benefit of all the relevant stakeholders. Etica Sgr is the first Italian asset manager to sign the pledge.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Montr\u00e9al Carbon Pledge<\/em> allows investors to compare the emissions of their portfolios to international benchmarks and to identify relevant areas and appropriate strategies for reducing their indirect greenhouse impact.<\/p>\n<p>In 2023, the PRI announced the closure of the Montreal Carbon Pledge. Over the years, the initiative has enjoyed great success, with the participation of 183 investors managing over 100 billion dollars in assets.<\/p>\n<p>The reasons for closing the initiative are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Pledge achieved its main goal of promoting the practice of measuring and disclosing the carbon footprint of investment portfolios, making it a robust and established process.<\/li>\n<li>In recent years, several more extensive and detailed initiatives for disclosing the carbon footprint have emerged, serving as a preliminary step in the development of decarbonization plans by investors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Etica Sgr will continue to calculate and report the carbon footprint of its funds, a valuable tool to inform stakeholders about such an important aspect of non-financial performance, as well as for analysis and monitoring purposes aimed at constant improvement towards decarbonization.
